At Lorna Jane, we are committed to our journey towards creating more sustainable fashion. We believe that positive change comes from working together within our industry to implement the very best in sustainable practices.
In turn, we are now a Foundation Member of the Seamless Clothing Stewardship Scheme, with other like-minded Australian clothing brands, with the collective goal of achieving circularity.
We acknowledge there is a long road ahead and that our journey to a sustainable future will be a marathon, not a sprint. Our goal is to continue to update you on our progress and share updates as we move forward with our sustainability roadmap.
Lorna Jane was founded in 1989, and since then the industry has continued to evolve in knowledge and practices. As part of this evolution, we have undergone a critical evaluation of our practices and identified areas where we can make positive change. An output of this was the establishment of a sustainability task force. Supported by key leaders across the business and our Product Development and Design Teams, the sustainability task force is focused on continuous improvement.

Social Responsibility & Labour Standards
At Lorna Jane, we are serious about social accountability, ethical sourcing, and our responsibilities as a producer of fashion under the Australian Government’s Modern Slavery Act 2018.
We are focused on continuous improvement and investment in our ethical sourcing program, and this includes a commitment to paying a living wage for all involved in the manufacture of our products.
We have also adopted a Modern Slavery Statement as part of our compliance with the Australian Government regulations. This Statement is our primary reporting method.
Fabric
We are committed to the development of more sustainable fabrics within our products where possible. So far this includes our Recycled Nothing 2 See Here™, Recycled Active Rib and our Recycled Bare Minimum, all of which are GRS Certified.
GRS (Global Recycled Standard) is an official product standard for verifying the recycled materials in a garment. This standard applies to the entirety of the supply chain including traceability, environmental and social requirements, and labelling.

Partnership
As of June 2023, we are proud to announce that we have partnered with the Australian Fashion Council in being a Foundation Member of the Seamless Clothing Stewardship Scheme.
In partnership with like-minded Australian clothing brands, the collective aim is to navigate the pathway to change and address the challenges of fashion consumption.
Seamless is designed to embrace a circular approach for textile production, where previous recourses are kept in a loop, garments are repurposed, and the fashion industry becomes a force for positive change.
The goal of Seamless is to transition to a circular clothing industry by 2030. We look forward to embarking on this journey and choose to be transparent in our progression.
Packaging
Our garments are packaged in 100% Home Compostable Biodegradable bags that are made from Cornstarch 65% PBAT.
Our swing tags are made with 100% recycled paper being chlorine-free, recyclable, and made from 100% post-consumer waste.
The ink used for the swing tags is water based.
Our Brochure is responsibly printed on 100% recyclable paper. Printed on Sovereign A2 Silk, which is FSC Certified by Hansol who also carry the ISO 14001 EMS accreditation.
